Galactic played in Asheville on Sunday. My friend C.D. and I hopped into the car amidst a snow storm, and proceeded to the venue. During the trek, we saw several 4×4 trucks sliding around along with a cop car skipping along laterally. Deciding that we probably stood a slim chance […]

Hat’s off to Guillaume and all the other cool kids who pushed Groovy to a 1.0 release. My original hand-rolled parser is long-gone, but I still wish for the best for these guys.
I think it’s cool, too, that they are having concurrent parties across the globe to celebrate.

So, Pete jammed his mouse into his pie hole:
Thanks Pete!
Pete is also out with a horrible instance of the flu currently. So, a gentle reminder to wash your hands and your mouse before attempting to ingest it. And probably wise to do the same again once you’re done.

If you use WordPress and occasionally link to an mp3, you’re creating an implicit podcast.
Poking around, I realized that iTunes would consume the RSS 2.0 feed from WordPress as a podcast, and load up the first mentioned mp3 in a given entry as the podcast. If you link to multiple mp3s, alas only the […]

It is only 170 pages, and the idea could probably be boiled down into two dozen. But the presentment of the material was quite well-done and engaging.

It seems the debate about links between brain cancer and cellphones goes back and forth. It seems like last year, they were declared safe. Now that is once again being called into question.
But are folks missing half of the equation? Sure, the phone is next to our head, but it’s also being […]

Google decided to plonk down a $600 million dollar data-center in Lenoir, North Carolina.
You know Lenoir, it’s right north of Hickory. Oh, you don’t know Lenoir? It’s been in the news lately, mostly with folks whinging about how Google, with its billions of dollars in market capitalization, is getting a pretty sweet […]

For a variety of reasons, I’ve come to the decision that I should learn how to speak Polish. I know a crapload of computer languages, of course: Perl, Java, Ruby, Bash, Tcl, Logo. But English is the only thing I can speak, even after 3 years of floudering in highschool French and a […]
